The Global Partners for Community Development (GPCD) – Sierra Leone
Chapter – a Non-Governmental Humanitarian Organization, have officially announced its executive members and signed a one-year agreement.
Foday
Koroma, Director of GPCD, made the announcement in a meeting held at
the Global Partners current office on 11 Prince Street, Freetown.
Mohamed
Bah, founder and chairman of the organization, said the selections
were finalized following recommendations by the director and his (Bah)
rigorous examination of the appointees.
Bah thanked the appointees for their perseverance to keep GPCD alive,
expressed his trust in them and urged them to put in their best to
help humanity, especially the impoverished.
He noted that the setting
up of the executive is a new phase and stated that the team must get
things moving as fast as possible.
“We are young and energetic. Let us go out there, impact the lives of people and make history,” he stressed.
He said the agreement is renewable based on performance.
The
signing or the one-year agreement was done after Barrister Kanu, the
organization's attorney, took the appointees through the agreement.
In
a brief statement, Barrister Kanu informed the appointees of
Non-Governmental Organization international best practices, and what to
expect from a charitable organization like GPCD.
He stressed
volunteers must be compensated, vowed to provide the team with all
necessary documents, assured them that signing of the one-year agreement
is to their advantage and remarked that it is a blessing to be in a
position to help people who could not help themselves in certain harsh
living conditions.
